Hurstbridge Wattle Festival
Held on the last Sunday in August, the Wattle Festival is a joyous celebration of Hurstbridge's unique heritage.
It’s a chance for locals to come out of winter hibernation and celebrate living in Melbourne’s green wedge in the Diamond Valley.
Hurstbridge Tennis Club joins in each year, usually holding a sausage sizzle and cake stall along with free tennis play for all.
Special Olympics Day
NANDM (Nicole and Maria Vallos - Club Coaches) has been involved with Special Olympics Victoria (SOV) for over 20 years, volunteering their time through coaching sessions, running Tennis Days and the Tennis State Games for the athletes as well as taking the Victorian Team away for the National Games.
Each year NANDM run a day for the SOV athletes at the Hurstbridge Tennis Club. This is a great opportunity and experience for club members and junior coaching students to be a part of. The athletes love attending these days, not only for the tennis but also to socialise with the Hurstbridge Community.
Kids On Court (Australian Open Excursion)
During the Australian Open and as part of the ANZ Hot Shots Program, a small group of students selected by NANDM (Nicole and Maria Vallos - Club Coaches) will have the opportunity to play on the Australian Open Tennis Court before the first match of the day. They play for approximately 20 minutes and then one child will be chosen to toss the coin at the start of the match.
One parent/carer and the child is then free to stay for the day and experience everything the Australian Open has to offer!
Christmas BBQ
Following the completion of the Spring competition season, Hurstbridge Tennis Club hosts a Christmas BBQ to honour and thank all club members and coaching students.
It's a nice way to end the year in a relaxed and friendly environment. Family and friends are all welcome and food and drink is provided at no charge. There are also free activities including a jumping castle for the children along with an awards presentation plus a raffle.
Junior In-House Tournaments
Played against your peers in a friendly environment, Junior In-House Tournaments are a great way to introduce coaching students to the competition side of the game, and to further strengthen play for those already participating in competition tennis. Furthermore, Junior In-House Tournaments create that team feeling by bringing everyone together, teaching them to encourage and support each other.
Junior In-House Tournaments are hosted by NANDM (Nicole and Maria Vallos - Club Coaches) and run in a round-robin format at the end of each term. Food and drink are provided.
Club Championships
Club Championships are open to all junior and senior financial members of the Hurstbridge Tennis Club. It's a great way to bring the local community together by relaxing and socialising with club members. Junior and senior round-robin singles, doubles and mixed doubles events are run over two days. Challenge yourself in a friendly competitive environment or come along to enjoy watching some great tennis!
