Code of Behaviour
We are committed to ensuring the provision of an inclusive and accessible environment which supports the health, welfare a safety or all users at all times.
All members, players, coaches, staff, officials, administrators, parents, supporters, spectators and visitors have a responsibility at all times when playing at, attending or representing our club to conduct themselves in an appropriate, considered and professional manner. Aggressive and abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.

This policy aims to ensure our core values, good reputation and positive behaviours and attitudes are maintained. It assists us in ensuring that every person involved in our sport is treated with respect and dignity, and is safe and protected from abuse. We maintain additional procedures that support our commitment to eliminating discrimination, harassment, child abuse and other forms of inappropriate behaviour. As part of this commitment, our club will take disciplinary action against any bound person or organisation found to be in breach of this policy.

Members, players, coaches, staff, officials, administrators, parents, supporters, spectators and visitors will:

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every player regardless of their gender, age, ability, cultural background or religion.

Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with players.
-
Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.
-
Display consistently high standards of positive behaviour and appearance and not use abusive language.
-
Consider the safety and well-being of fellow players and officials at all times.
-
Ensure activities are adapted to suit the age, ability and maturity of those taking part.
-
Promote fair play and participation and not a ‘win at all costs’ approach.
-
Hold the appropriate qualifications for their position and provide quality supervision and instruction.

Always respect the official’s decision and support them to carry out their role.

Follow all guidelines of governing tennis bodies, Tennis VIC and Tennis Australia, of which we are an Affiliate.
-
Respect the policies and practices of Tennis VIC and Tennis Australia.
-
Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility and professionalism, especially when dealing with persons under 18 years of age.

This policy applies to anyone below, whether they are in a paid or voluntary capacity:
-
Employees and volunteers.
-
Coaches and assistant coaches.
-
Referees, umpires and other officials.
-
Players and members, including life members.
-
Member associations.
-
Parents, guardians, spectators, supporters, visitors and sponsors to the full extent that is possible.

Affiliated clubs and associated organisations.
-
Peak associations and the national body.
-
Any other person or organisation that is a member of or affiliated with our club and will continue to apply to a person even after they have stopped their association or employment with our club if disciplinary action, relating to an allegation of child abuse against that person, has commenced.

Our club and affiliated organisations are bound by this policy and have a responsibility to:

Adopt, implement and comply with this policy.

Publish, distribute and otherwise promote this policy and the consequences for breaching it.

Promote appropriate standards of conduct at all times.

Promptly deal with any breaches of or complaints made under this policy in an impartial, sensitive, fair, timely and confidential manner.

Apply this policy consistently without fear or favour.
-
Recognise and enforce any penalty imposed under this policy.
-
Ensure that a copy of this policy is available or accessible to the persons to whom this policy applies.
-
Appoint or have access to appropriately trained people to receive and handle complaints and allegations and display the names and contact details in a way that is readily accessible.

Monitor and review this policy at least annually.

Individuals bound by this policy are responsible for:

Making themselves aware of the policy and complying with the standards of conduct outlined in this policy.
-
Complying with all other requirements of this policy.
-
Co-operating in providing a discrimination, child abuse and harassment free sporting environment.
-
Understanding the possible consequences of breaching this policy.
